The idea for Rouge et Blanc was conceived in 2006 by the staff of Banners at McNeese State University. Staff members recognized that the community would enjoy and benefit from a premier food and wine event like no other in the region.
The inaugural event included one, four-hour wine and food tasting featuring local restaurants and wine vendors. The community’s response was enormous selling out the event within hours. In the years since the first Rouge et Blanc was held, the Banners staff and a group of community volunteers have worked to expand the event to establish a week-long celebration of food and wine. The event still sells out each year and the staff and volunteers remain committed to growing Rouge et Blanc as much as the community demands.
Rouge et Blanc is the main fundraiser of the Banners at McNeese State University organization. It also has become a popular annual community event drawing visitors throughout the country to McNeese State University’s beautiful campus.
